The last of the snow on the Jura…

I love it when everything comes together: beautiful light, a fun family, snow and soft sun. My hope is that these photos create lasting memories for this family, a record of who they were and what they were up to at this stage in their family’s life, a record of the precious gift they have…

Sessions at sunrise are so worth it! A special session in Rolle…

Look at the beautiful golden soft light we found by getting at the beach soon after sunrise?! It was perfect! And what a joy to photograph this family for the fourth time. I have loved following the growth of their two beautiful girls. What a privilege it is for me. If beach/lake side sessions appeal to you, the best (and only) time of day to do those is either at sunrise or sunset, and it is so worth it!!!

A lovely six month old, and a pop of red…

What can I say?! These photos make my photographer’s heart very happy! Not only did the photos of our morning together capture so much cuteness and joy, the colors this beautiful mama chose were right up my alley: neutral, natural, with then a great pop of red from her couch. The combination of the natural moments, love and joy, absolute baby cuteness, proud big sister, and beautiful mama work so well! Thanks so much for allowing me to come into your home and take photos of your cute baby and beautiful family! 🙂

Sunset and Family Joy near Versoix

I am slowly catching up on blogging, with this family. These three absolutely cute boys kept me busy, but the results are so worth it! I love the golden evening light we got to finish our session with. I know evening times can be a challenge with small kids, but if you like soft golden light, braving the evening hours will add soft, beautiful light to your family photos! Karine Blog

Six Month Old Cuteness near Genthod

I had the privilege of photographing this cute doll a few months ago, and she was back for her six-month photography session. What more can I say than ABSOLUTE CUTENESS! It makes me wish I could roll back the years to when my oldest daughter was a baby and take photos of her the way I do now. These kind of photos are just bound to put a smile on your face!

My thanks to the lovely parents for sharing their doll with me for an hour or so. It was so fun to capture those rolls, that smile, that hair!Marina Blog

A summer’s morning near Nyon

It was the third time I got to take photos of this beautiful family. It is so fun to see “my” families grow, have new babies, and see those babies change over the course of the year… Plus, summer has just arrived and we got to use a wonderful garden with the most beautiful backlit weeping tree. A photographer’s dream… These two beauties made my photographer’s heart very happy! 🙂

Wonderful Expressions…

I loved spending a morning with this little cutie pie. Not only was he so easy to take photos of, he also had so many cute little facial expressions. A real sweet heart. As usual, thank you to the parents for sharing your baby with me for a few hours. It is always such a privilege…

Pure New Joy in Founex

One of the reasons why I love to take photos of newborn babies in their homes is the pure joy and happiness that is a part of everything. Yes, a new baby is hard work and a big adjustment for everyone, but mixed into this is a sense of pure joy and wonder at the miracle of a precious new life. And this was particularly evident to me in this household. Congratulations to both lovely parents on the birth of your precious new bundle of joy – literally – and thank you for inviting me to be a part of it for a few hours!

The last snow of the season… A family photo shoot in the Jura mountains…

This photo shoot was done right as Spring arrived here. We were lucky though, to have still enough snow, plus a lovely warm afternoon to enjoy being outside together. Thank you family L for being such great sports in the snow and for making my job so easy to do! I love, love, love, the late afternoon light we got, plus the joy of family love and togetherness that you shared with me. I am so glad we snuck this last snow photo shoot before Spring came!

Winter Family Fun

Who said you can’t capture beautiful family photos in the middle of winter?! My brief for this session was to capture family joy and love, during a walk in and around the village in which they live. This is something this family often does and wanted to preserve memories of them together doing what they often do. What a privilege to be invited into the intimacy of a family activity, and what fun for me to capture the precious details that make their lives unique. The beloved “doudou”, the colorful toddler boots (or wellies), a girl being lifted in the air and giggling in the process, her love of scootering, the farm they go to to visit the goats (who failed to appear on that day…), and so much more.  🙂

All about great nappy bags! And one of my favorite locations, just outside Nyon…

Earlier this fall, I had the privilege of taking photos for Melissa of MELOBABY, an Australian entrepreneur who developed her own line of all-in-one nappy wallets and nappy bags. It was one of the last beautiful fall days, and we got to spend some time with Melissa’s gorgeous bags and lovely models, in a wonderful location in the woods.

When Melissa’s babies were small, she saw the need for a practical changing mat, and actually went and created these mats and bags! What an impressive lady! I thought it would be fun to interview her and find out more about why and how her business came to be.

Melissa, where are you from?    Sydney, Australia and very proud of it!

How did you come up with the idea of your MELOBABY ALL-IN-ONE nappy wallet + change mat?

Just after my daughter was born, I went on my first outing andI had no idea of what to pack! So, I packed about 10 nappies, 3 changes of clothes, a few creams, another wrap and a lot of other stuff. I remember getting out of the car and unfolding the stroller, carrying the backpack plus my normal handbag and of course, I struggled to carry the most important thing my new baby! I was only out for about 3 hours and I didn’t use any of it.

After that, I ditched the backpack and just took the mat that came with the bag. I put that in my handbag with some spare nappies and wipes and that’s all I used. We travelled regularly between Sydney and London and I never missed a nappy bag.  The nappies and wipes always used to slide out and I thought wouldn’t it be good if there were some pockets to hold them in. Over 4 years of perfecting the design I finally got the perfect sample. Ironically, the final sample arrived when my second daughter was 3 years old and just coming out of nappies.

How long have you now been in business for?

We launched MELOBABY in March, 2008. Our first shipment was 2000 wallets and my husband kindly let me use our only savings at the time to buy the stock. I still remember looking at all the cartons when they arrived and thinking how am I going to sell all these?

What colors/styles do you offer?

We have 4 main colors of the wallets: MELONOIR black with a charcoal mat, MELOCHOC brown with a lime green mat, MELOROUGE red with a caramel mat and MELOCREME crème coated canvas with caramel mat. We have just released two limited editions CHAMOUFLAGE and SILVER.

We also have released an Award winning changing bag MELOTOTE it is the perfect bag to accompany any parent on their days out… Its unisex design means that not only mum will carry it but dad too! Get yours now and enjoy leaving the house! This is why we had Michelle Petersen take the gorgeous photos!

One of my beautiful fall babies

This fall, I had the privilege of visiting with several beautiful babies and here is one of them! Isn’t she sweet? I was so impressed with her big sister who was so proud and so gentle with her baby sister. No words are really needed for this kind of blog post, and you are welcome to go “awwwh”! 🙂

A beautiful family in September

If you are like me, then the advent of colder weather and the recent hint of winter has left you dreaming of summer goodness…

I had the privilege of taking photos of these four on a late summer’s evening, and these images, backlit with golden evening sunshine, are just beautiful! They are filled with the warmth and beauty of a summer’s evening. In addition, the joy and energy of this brother and sister pair was so fun to witness. I absolutely love the photos of this little princess playing peekaboo!

Newborn Sweetness

This beautiful mom’s waters broke when she read that she was the winner of my one-year anniversary contest! She had been eagerly waiting for this little guy’s arrival and I am glad to have been able to contribute to making him decide to meet his family. I guess I can add “inducer of babies” to my resume… LOL 🙂 What a joy it was to come meet their sweet new little one, who was just ten days old!

It was a gray, foggy day, and these four (plus a very proud and friendly grandma) were feeling adventurous, and so we ventured outside. I am so glad we did because I think that this sweet newborn’s peaceful image of him in this family’s backyard is just perfect! A true picture of the preciousness of a new life… If you want lifestyle photos of your newborn, at home, in his/her environment, surrounded by family, pets, and home objects, make sure to get in touch with me before the birth of your baby so that I can schedule a session soon after the birth. The younger a baby is, the easier it is to take photos of them.

Sweet, Brotherly Love

Ahh, there is something beautiful about a toddler’s love for his new baby brother! This cutie pie had so much energy, and so much enthusiasm for his new baby. Very cute! Capturing a newborn’s first weeks in the world has to be one of the great joys and honors of a family portrait photographer, me thinks… 🙂

A hot day at the lake in Allaman

For those of you who live around here, remember a couple of weeks back when we had a few days of very hot weather? Well, we headed out to a beautiful beach near Allaman with this family and the heat allowed us to take photos of this little cutie pie in his birthday suit. I loooove all his little rolls… And I love his big blue expression-filled eyes. What can I say; I love my job! 🙂

Gorgeous little baby H.

I come home from most sessions thinking that this one was my favorite, and coming home from spending the evening with these three was no exception. Baby H. was a five week old little bundle of perfection, and his parents were just so in love with him! So wonderful to see… He is a lucky boy. The cherry on the cake for me was the warm welcome into their beautiful home and family. I think I will never tire of feeling very privileged to be invited into a home to capture the love and happiness that is there… 🙂
